COMMENTS-i I approve the staff recommendations to authorize the Director, Fuel Cycle Safety and Safeguards of the Office of Nuclear Material Safety and Safeguards to declassify the special nuclear material inventory difference data in accordance with the National Security Council Decision Memorandum 347 of January 1977, and eliminate the associated annual Commission negative consent paper. My approval is contingent upon the staff developing criteria for determining when the Executive Director for Operations and Commission should be informed of significant information pertaining to any active investigations associated with the data and the circumstances surrounding them, and continuing to make the declassified data publicly available.
