NRC NAMES NEW RESIDENT INSPECTOR AT BRUNSWICK NUCLEAR PLANT
Nuclear Regulatory Commission officials in Atlanta have selected
Mark Schwieg as the resident inspector for Progress Energys Brunswick
nuclear power plant, located in Southport, NC., about 20 miles south of

at the Brunswick site.
Schwieg joined the NRC in August 2009 as a project engineer in
the Resident Inspector Development Program in the NRCs Region II
office in Atlanta. He successfully completed the Resident Inspector
Qualification Program earlier this year. Prior to joining the NRC, Schwieg spent twelve years
working as a system and electronics engineer for Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company in
Georgia and five years as a submarine officer in U.S. Navy.
Schwieg attended the University of Florida in Gainesville, where he received a Bachelor

received a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.
Mark Schwieg has the experience and commitment to carry out the NRC mission of
protecting people and the environment, and to help ensure the safe operation of the Brunswick
nuclear plant, said NRC Region II Administrator Victor McCree.
