TENNESSEE VALLEY AUTHORITY ) Docket Nos. 50-391-OL

(Watts Bar Unit 2) )

NRC STAFFS NOVEMBER 2011 BIMONTHLY REPORT REGARDING THE SCHEDULE FOR REVIEW OF THE WATTS BAR NUMBER 2 LICENSE APPLICATION The Staff of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (Staff) hereby provides the information requested by the Atomic Safety and Licensing Board (Board) in its May 26, 2010 Scheduling Order (Order). In the Order, the Board instructed the Staff to submit a report on July 2, 2010, to be updated on the first Tuesday of every other month thereafter, updating its estimates of the dates on which the final Environmental Impact Statement ("EIS") and the final Safety Evaluation Report ("SER") will be issued, and in addition, promptly to inform the Board of any other developments that could potentially impact the schedule for this proceeding.

The Staff hereby notifies the Board of the public availability of the NUREG-0498, Supplement 2, Draft Final Environmental Impact Statement, Related to the Operation of Watts Bar Nuclear Plant, Unit 2 ("Draft"). The Draft is available as a package in ADAMS at ML112980199. Although the Draft is now available, the formal comment period will be calculated based on the actual date of the Environmental Protection Agency's notice in the Federal Register stating that the Draft has been filed with EPA. Currently, the Staff estimates the EPA's notice will be published on November 10, 2011, and the comment period will run through December 27, 2011.

For the final documents, the current estimates are unchanged from those provided in September of 2011. The Staff estimates May of 2012 for completion of the final supplement to

NUREG-0498, Final Environmental Statement Related to the Operation of Watts Bar Nuclear Plant Units Nos. 1 and 2, (December, 1978), and March of 2012 for the final supplement to NUREG-0847, Safety Evaluation Report Related ("SSER") to the Operation of Watts Bar Nuclear Plant, Units 1 and 2, (June 1982) which will be presented to the Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards. However, the Staff may issue one or more additional supplements as TVA completes all construction; the Staff anticipates such supplements will be issued no later than December of 2012.

Respectfully submitted,
