, Suffolk, and is still pending; and WHEREAS, hearings before the New York State Board on electric Generation, Siting and the Environment have been idefinitely suspended, with no decision on certification having as yet been rendered; and WHEREAS, the County Legislature has concluded that a nuclear generating facility in Jamesport would represent an unacceptabie safety risk to the people of Suffolk County due, among other reasons to (a) the dangers revealed by the recent accident at the uclear power station on Three Mile Island in Pennsylvania, and (b) the fact that no adequate plan has or can be formulated to provide for the expeditiot safe evacuation of the people of Suffolk, , particularly those in the five Eastern Towns, in the event of a serious nuclear accident at Jamesport and (c) because of unanswered questions involving the actual need for this facility as well as the disposal of its waste, a:, disclosed by a review of the records in the aforementioned proceecings before the Nuclear Regulatory Comm'ssion and the New York State Board on Electric D s eration, Siting and the Environment; now, therefore, be it n ,9i 3. !
