__'3tatus Report No. 4
/
1.
On September 8, 1980 the New York State Siting Board issued a lengthy written Opinion and Order in its Jamesport proceeding.
The Siting Board concluded:
Our consideration of the testimony, exhibits, arguments, recommendations, and other infor-mation relevant to this case leads us to cor:lude that the needs of the people of this State for electric service at a reason-able cost, and from sources that are reli-l cble and compatible with both the public health and safety and the environment, will l
best be served by authorizing Long Island Lighting Company and New York State Electric
& Gas Corporation to build one 800 megawatt j
coal-fueled electric generating facility at the Janesport site.
2.
Neither the Applicants in Case 80003 nor other parties to the proceeding, to our knowledge, have decided as yet whether to seek judicial review of the Siting-Board's decision.
4 As soon as the Applicants reach a decision in this regard, we 3
