COMANCHE PEAK STEAM ELECTRIC STATION DOCKET NO. 50-445 INTERIM STORAGE OF SPECIAL NUCLEAR MATERIAL, 93% ENRICHED URANIUM, EX-CORE FISSION CHAMBER DETECTORS
Dear Mr. Crow:
On May 7, 1986, the subject material was received at Comanche Peak Steam Electric Station under the By-product Material License. The receipt of this material was not authorized by this license.
A complete investigation as to'how this occurred is currently being conducted.
A follow up report will be issued when our investigation is complete.
This material is currently being stored under constant surveillance in a secured area of our warehouse as Special Nuclear Material of Low Strategic Significance.
Upon the issuance of a CPSES Special Order in accordance with the Operating Department Administrative Procedure 207, the material will be moved and stored in the New Fuel Storage Area until placed in service.
The New Fuel Storage Area is protected in accordance with the CPSES " Interim Physical Security Plan for Protection of Stored Special Nuclear Material of Low Strategic Significance at CPSES".
This letter will serve as a follow up to the telephone conversation between Mr. R. J. Everett and Mr. B. T. Lancaster at approximately 1600 hours0.0185 days <br />0.444 hours <br />0.00265 weeks <br />6.088e-4 months <br /> on May 8, 1986.
The proposed amendment to the Special Nuclear Material License No.
SNM-1912 covering the referenced subject will be issued shortly.
