At 1929 EST, on 12/17/19, Millstone Unit 3 … At 1929 EST, on 12/17/19, Millstone Unit 3 began preparations for shutting down the reactor as the 'A' Emergency Diesel Generator (EDG) could not be restored to operable status within the 14-day outage time, requiring a Technical Specification (Tech Spec) shutdown. </br>Per Tech Spec 3.8.1.1., the reactor must be in Hot Standby in six (6) hours, and Cold Shutdown within the following 30 hours. Hot Standby is estimated by midnight, and Cold Shutdown by 1800 EST on 12/18/19. </br>All other safety and shutdown systems are operable. Decay heat removal will be through the Shut Down Cooling and Residual Heat Removal systems.</br>There was no impact to Unit 2. There was no impact to the health and safety of the public or plant personnel. </br>The licensee notified the state of Connecticut, Waterford County, and the NRC Resident Inspector.rd County, and the NRC Resident Inspector. +
