Reference:
Letter from T.J. Tulon (Exelon) to U.S. NRC, "Technical Specifications Section 5.6.6, Post Accident Monitoring Instrumentation Report," dated August 29, 2001.
The referenced letter, described Quad Cities Nuclear Power Station (QCNPS) plans to restore the 1 D Main Steam Isolation Valve (MSIV) indication channel to operable status. We committed that during the next refueling outage on Unit 1 (Q1 R1 7) or at the next forced outage that required a drywell entry, that the 1 D MSIV indication channel would be returned to an operable status. On January 9, 2002 QCNPS Unit 1 was forced to shutdown (Q1 F49). The forced outage required a drywell entry and maintenance was performed on the 1 D MSIV Post Accident Monitoring position indication. The MSIV position indication was subsequently returned to an operable status on January 13, 2002.
Should you have any questions concerning this letter, please contact Mr. W. J. Beck at (309) 227-2800.
