Special Report of ECCS Actuation River Bend Station - Unit 1 Docket No. 50-458 License No. NPF-47 File Nos.

G9.5, G9.25.1.3 RBF1 0181

Dear Sir or Madam:

Pursuant to River Bend Station Technical Requirements Manual (TRM) section 5.6.9.2, Entergy Operations, Inc., hereby provides notification that on September 29, 2009, loop "C" of the low pressure coolant injection (LPCI) system was manually actuated and injected water into the reactor coolant system. This system actuation occurred in response to a lowering water level in the refueling cavity. The plant was in a refueling outage at the time of the event. The details of that event are contained in Licensee Event Report 50-458/09-003-00, dated November 23, 2009.

This actuation was the first such event for the "C" loop of LPCI since plant operations started in 1985. The total cumulative nozzle usage factor remains below the TRM limit of 0.70.

Sincerely, i-,

David N. Lorfing Manager - Licensing cc:
