Victor Dricks E-Mail: opa4@nrc.gov Phone: (817) 860-8128 NRC TO HOLD PUBLIC MEETING ON SAN ONOFRE NUCLEAR GENERATING STATION ISSUES The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff will meet with Southern California Edison Co. officials on Sept. 23 to discuss the status of performance improvements and other issues at the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station. SCE operates the plant, located near San Clemente, Calif.

The meeting, which will be open to public observation, will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Holiday Inn San Clemente Resort, 111 S. De La Estrella, San Clemente.

SCE officials will brief the NRC staff on actions taken to address deficiencies in the areas of human performance, and problem identification and resolution. SCE will also discuss the status of actions taken in response to a Confirmatory Order issued by the NRC last January in response to willful violations of NRC regulations.

The public will have an opportunity to observe the meeting and ask questions. A phone bridge is also being established to permit interested members of the public to listen to the meeting. People interested should contact Don Allen at (817) 276-6574 or via e-mail at:
