Diane Screnci, 610-337-5330 NRC Names New Resident Inspector at Browns Ferry Nuclear Power Plant Nuclear Regulatory Commission officials in Atlanta have assigned Nicholas Karlovich as the new resident inspector at the Browns Ferry Nuclear Power Plant in Athens, Ala. The three-unit plant is operated by the Tennessee Valley Authority.

Karlovich joined the agency in 2008 after earning a bachelors degree in electrical engineering from the University of Florida. After completing an extensive training program, he worked as a Region-based construction inspector. He then was a construction resident inspector at Watts Bar Unit 2, Summer 2 and 3, and most recently at the Vogtle 3 and 4 construction site.

Karlovich joins Acting Senior Resident Inspector Chris Safouri and Resident Inspector Matthew Kirk at Browns Ferry. Each U.S. commercial nuclear power plant site has at least two NRC resident inspectors. They serve as the agencys eyes and ears at the facility, conducting inspections, monitoring significant work projects, and interacting with plant workers and the public. Resident inspectors are assigned to a site for up to seven years.
