The meeting will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the Crystal River Nuclear Operations Training Facility, 8200 W. Venable Street in Crystal River. The public is invited to observe the meeting, and NRC officials will be available before its conclusion to answer any questions.

The NRC told Progress Energy that the Crystal River plant operated safely during 2003 and that plant performance was at a level requiring no additional NRC oversight beyond routine inspections. The NRC staff, in addition to the normal inspections at Crystal River, will conduct additional inspections of the plants implementation of any new security Orders and any new security requirements, as well as an inspection in the area of spent fuel material control and accountability.

Current performance indicators for Crystal River are available at www.nrc.gov/NRR/OVERSIGHT/ASSESS/CR3/CR3_chart.html .
