Reference:

NRC letter to Duke Energy, "NOTICE OF VIOLATION AND CONFIRMATORY ORDER RELATED TO A FIRE PROTECTION PROGRAM LICENSE CONDITION (OCONEE NUCLEAR STATION, UNITS 1, 2, AND 3)," dated July 1, 2013 The confirmatory order (Reference), related to an ONS fire protection program license condition, requires Duke Energy to report the completion of each milestone within 30 days of completion.

Duke Energy completed Milestone 3 on June 13, 2014. Milestone 3 requires Duke Energy to provide ONS the capability to supply electrical power from the PSW building switchgear to simultaneously operate at least one high-pressure injection pump per unit, and to operate the valves needed to align water flow to the reactor coolant pump seals and to inject water into the reactor coolant system, as an alternate path within the emergency operating procedures. The order requires this modification, along with approved plant procedures and the completion of operator training necessary to accomplish this lineup, and a combination of testing and engineering evaluation in accordance with station procedures which verifies this capability, to be completed and operational no later than October 1, 2014.
