Enclosed is the staff generic evaluation (NUREG-1014) related to modification of Westinghouse D4/D5/E steam generators.

Appendix B of NUREG-1014 is the Counterflow Steam Generator Owners'eview Group's Technical Review Committee Report of July 1983.

The staff has reviewed this report and finds it acceptable except for noted exceptions and comments.

lie further present additional requirements (NUREG-1014, Section 1.3).

Plant-specific evaluations will be provided on each docket as requests for installing the modification are received.

He conclude, pending plant-specific verification and documentation of safety

analyses, that the modification of the D4/D5/E steam generators is acceptable and that the modified steam generators can be operated at 1005 of their design capac-ity.
