Cambridge, Massachusetts 02138 Dear Dr. Ya Your letu r to me dated August 6, 1979 asked for certain information dealing with the waste disposal issue.
I hope that the following information will be useful to you:
On August 2,1979 the Commission promulgated a final rule identifying environmental impact values which are to be included in environmental reports and environmental impact statements for individual light water nuclear power reactors. A copy is enclosed.
- I have enclosed a copy of NUREG-0216 as you requested.
I have also enclosed NUREG-ll6 which together with NUREG-0216 presents an assessment of environmental effects associated with the back end of the fuel cycle. This is in response to your request for a recent NRC statement on the environmental effects of nuclear waste disposal.
I have included NUREG-0555 (May 1979) to replace your November 1977 copy of NUREG-0158.
NUREG-0555 completely updates NUREG-0158 including con-sideration of comments received from various sources, and changes in Comission policies and practice subsequent to issuance of NUREG-0158.
