Dear Ms. Bladey:
The Regional Utility Group for NRC Region I (RUG I) appreciates the opportunity to provide comments on draft NUREG-1 022, Revision 3, "Event Reporting Guidelines: 10 CFR 50.72 and 50.73."
RUG I members endorse the comments provided to the NRC in a letter titled, "NEI Comments on Draft NUREG-1022, Revision 3, 'Event Reporting Guidelines: 10 CFR 50.72 and 50.73,"
dated December 6, 2011. In particular, RUG I members want to emphasize that elements of the proposed changes to the NUREG are substantive changes that are well beyond the staff's intended purpose of providing guidance clarification, and as such have not received adequate regulatory analysis.
The RUG I members support the NEI request to further discuss the NRC's proposed resolution of industry comments prior to the final issuance of NUREG-1 022, Revision 3.
