Attachment NOC-AE-02001276 Page 1 of 1 ATTACHMENT ADDITIONAL INFORMATION By a letter dated August 22, 2001, STP Nuclear Operating Company (STPNOC), the licensee for South Texas Project Units 1 & 2, requested a license amendment to raise the plant operating power level by 1.4 percent. The NRC staff reviewed the application and determined that it needs additional information to complete its review. The additional information is provided below.

NRC requested information: Provide additional safety analysis limits and the calculated results for the uncontrolled rod control cluster assembly bank withdrawal at power transient that was re-analyzed for the 1.4-percent uprate application.

Response

The information below supplements information provided to the NRC in a letter on February 5, 2002 regarding the transient.

Parameter Safety Analysis Limit Calculated Result Peak reactor coolant system 2748.5 psig 2723.4 psig pressure Peak secondary steam side 1428.5 psig 1420 psig pressure Peak core average heat flux 118% (note) 117.1%

Note: Meeting the limit ensures that no core melt occurs
