HOPE CREEK GENERATING STATION AND SALEM NUCLEAR GENERATING STATION, UNIT NOS. 1 AND 2 - EXEMPTIONS FROM THE REQUIREMENTS OF 10 CFR 50.71(e)(4) FINAL SAFETY ANALYSIS REPORT UPDATE SCHEDULE (EPID L-2025-LLE-0008)
Dear Mr. McFeaters:
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission has approved the enclosed exemptions from specific requirements of Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR) 50.71(e)(4) for the Hope Creek Generating Station (Hope Creek) and Salem Nuclear Generating Station (Salem), Unit Nos. 1 and 2. This action is in response to your request dated January 28, 2025, seeking exemptions to allow periodic updates of the Salem, Unit Nos. 1 and 2, combined Updated Final Safety Analysis Report (UFSAR) by August 31 of every odd-numbered year not to exceed 24 months between successive updates, following the most recent submittal in November 2025, and to allow periodic updates of the Hope Creek UFSAR by August 31 of every even-numbered year not to exceed 24 months between successive updates, beginning with a proposed submittal in August 2026.
A copy of these exemptions is enclosed. The exemptions will be forwarded to the Office of the Federal Register for publication.
