Constellation Energy Generation, LLC - Braidwood - Delay in Issuance of Amendment to Incorporate Diurnal Curve (EPID: L-2024-LLA-0172)

By letter dated December 20, 2024 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML24355A058), Constellation Energy Generation, LLC (Constellation) )

requested amendments to revise technical specifications to incorporate diurnal curve for the ultimate heat sink (UHS) at the Braidwood Station, Units 1 and 2.

On September 4, 2025, the NRC issued a Comprehensive Engineering Team Inspection (CETI)

Report (ML25239A583) with findings that affected the review scope to incorporate a diurnal curve for the UHS. The CETI report resulted in the NRC staff asking additional audit questions that Constellation has indicated it would likely not be able to fully address until early 2026.

The purpose of this email is to inform you that following its assessment, the NRC staff now plans to complete this review by June 1, 2026, with an estimated 890 hours0.0103 days
0.247 hours
0.00147 weeks
3.38645e-4 months
. These revised estimates could change due to several factors including requests for additional information and unanticipated addition of the review scope (e.g., regulatory audit). If emergent complexities or challenges arise that would result in a change to the estimated completion date or significant changes in the estimated hours, the reasons for the change, and a revised estimate will be communicated during routine interactions with the assigned licensing project manager and documented.

We appreciate your understanding and continued cooperation. If you have any questions, please contact me at (301) 415-2855 or e-mail at Scott.Wall@nrc.gov.
