CLINTON POWER STATION, UNIT NO. 1 - SAFETY EVALUATION FOR LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION (EPID NO. L-2024-RNW-0000)
Dear Christopher D. Wilson:
By letter dated February 14, 2024 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML24045A024), Constellation Energy Generation, LLC (Constellation or CEG) submitted to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) an application for renewal of Facility Operating License No. NPF-62 for Clinton Power Station, Unit No. 1 (Clinton), pursuant to Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations Part 54, Requirements for Renewal of Operating Licenses for Nuclear Power Plants. Constellation further supplemented the Clinton license renewal application (LRA) by letters dated November 27, 2024 (Package ML24332A050), December 20, 2024 (ML24355A050), January 30, 2025 (ML25030A182),
March 25, 2025 (ML25084A044), and April 10, 2025 (ML25100A083).
The NRC staff determined that the Clinton LRA was complete and acceptable for docketing as communicated by letter dated April 11, 2024 (ML24089A222) and noticed in the Federal Register on April 18, 2024 (89 FR 27805).
The NRC staff has reviewed the Clinton LRA and has developed the enclosed Safety Evaluation Related to the License Renewal of Clinton Power Station, Unit 1, hereinafter referred to as the Safety Evaluation (SE). The SE reflects the NRC staffs safety review of the LRA, as supplemented, through April 10, 2025. The issuance of the enclosed SE is an important milestone for both the applicant and the NRC staff.
