OFFICIAL USE ONLY - PROPRIETARY INFORMATION OFFICIAL USE ONLY - PROPRIETARY INFORMATION Summary of Potential Technical Challenges Regarding Limitation and Condition 12 for Framatome Topical Report ANP-10300, Revision 1, Supplement 1P, Revision 0, AURORA-B: Addressing L&Cs 11, 12, and 18

1. Methodologies developed using ((

)) have limited applicability when extended to diverse reactor types and conditions, especially when the methodology is ((

)) used to develop it. With respect to ((

)) such validation may not capture the full range of flow regimes, geometries, and boundary conditions, leading to increased uncertainty in broader applications (e.g., the expected range of boiling water reactor (BWR) plant conditions).

2. Applicability of specific quantitative results derived from the analysis and simulation of the lower plenum in ((

)) is limited due to differences in design, flow characteristics, and operating conditions. Additional work may be needed to justify the applicability of inputs, scaling parameters, calculated results, and uncertainties to the expected range of BWR plant conditions.

3. Further explanation and justification for the conservatism of the U.S. BWR demonstration calculation is needed. The current justification appears to be based on a

((

)) that are neither fully validated nor completely independent. Additional work may be needed to justify the applicability of the presented conservatism in an absolute sense with respect to the expected range of BWR plant conditions.
