Subject:
Docket Number 50-184 license amendment request
Dear Sirs/Madams:
The NIST Center for Neutron Research (NCNR) hereby requests a license amendment to reclassify the National Bureau of Standards Reactor (NBSR) as a research reactor under the new criteria implemented by the NRC under the Non-Power Production or Utilization Facility License Renewal Rule (EPID L-2024-NFC-0000). As noted in the attached request document, the NBSR no longer meets the definition for a testing facility as given in 10 CFR 50.2. Other than this reclassification request, there are no other changes requested in the NBSR Safety Analysis Report or Technical Specifications. We note that, regardless of the outcome of this request, facility fees prescribed in 10 CFR Part 170 will still apply.
Attached please find the reclassification request document and Finding of No Significant Hazards analysis.
Sincerely, James M. Adams Director NIST Center for Neutron Research I declare under penalty of perjury that the following is true and correct.
