SUMMARY
OF JANUARY 24, 2025, AND FEBRUARY 4, 2025, TELECONFERENCES WITH UNION ELECTRIC COMPANY TO DISCUSS SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION NEEDED FOR THE PROPOSED ALTERNATIVES TO CERTAIN ASME CODE, SECTION XI, REQUIREMENTS FOR CALLAWAY PLANT, UNIT NO. 1 (EPID L-2024-LLR-0084)
On January 24, 2025, an Observation public meeting was held between the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and representatives of Union Electric Company, doing business as Ameren Missouri (the licensee) via teleconference. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss supplemental information needed for the proposed alternatives to certain American Society of Mechanical Engineers Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (ASME Code),Section XI, requirements for Callaway Plant, Unit No. 1, as documented in the supplemental information request dated January 21, 2025 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML25022A012). The meeting notice and agenda, dated January 23, 2025, are available in ADAMS at ML25023A157. Enclosed is a list of attendees at the meeting.
During the meeting, the NRC staff discussed why the proposed alternatives could not be reviewed as proposed and the type of information that could be provided in response to the request. The NRC staff also discussed the timelines for the submittal of the supplement and the completion of the review.
Subsequently, on February 4, 2025, a second Observation public meeting was held to further discuss the details on how to address the NRC staffs concerns. The meeting notice and agenda dated January 30, 2025 are available in ADAMS at ML25030A254.
To support the second teleconference, the licensee made available two preliminary supplements (ML25034A253 and ML25034A255) to revise the original proposed alternative. During the teleconference the NRC staff discussed the details in the preliminary supplements for the revised proposed alternative and identified information that the licensee should include in the supplements to be submitted on the docket. Per the discussion during the teleconference, the licensee submitted the revised supplements on February 24, 2025 (Package ML25055A151).
No regulatory decisions were made as a result of these teleconferences. No members of the public identified themselves on the teleconferences. No public meeting feedback forms were received.
