The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) requests amendment of NRC Certificate of Compliance (CoC) Number 5797, for Model Inner HFIR Unirradiated Fuel Element Shipping Container, and Outer HFIR Unirradiated Fuel Element Shipping Container, Docket 71-5797, EPID L-2023-LLA-0156. A pre-application conference call was held with NRC staff on December 13, 2023, to discuss the upgrade of the package from -85 to -96 in accordance with § 71.19(d). A consolidated application (Safety Analysis Report for the HFIR Unirradiated Fuel Element Shipping Package, ORNL/RRD/INT-180, Rev. 0, July 2024) and references were uploaded to a secure DOE server for the previous NRC Project Manager Pierre Saverot on July 18, 2024. The CoC amendment is needed by October 31, 2025.
