OF JULY 18, 2024, PUBLIC MEETING ON DEVELOPMENT OF RISK METRICS TO SUPPORT IMPLEMENTATION OF RISK-INFORMED PROGRAMS FOR ADVANCED REACTORS On July 18, 2024, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) held a public meeting with stakeholders. The announcement for this public meeting is available at the [(Agencywide Documents and Access and Management System) (ADAMS) Accession number ML24198A198]. The purpose of the meeting was to gather stakeholders input to inform a strategy for developing risk metrics that can be used to support licensing applications and risk-informed decision-making programs for advanced reactors. The meeting included presentations from NRC staff members and stakeholder groups. The presentations at the meeting are listed below. The enclosure to this document lists the meeting attendees.
The topics discussed included 1) development of risk metrics for non-light-water reactors (NLWR) design and their uses in regulatory applications; 2) advanced reactor operating experience data, methods, and tools to support risk estimation; and 3) development of interim staff guidance (ISG) on the review of applicant-proposed risk metrics for commercial nuclear plants licensed under the proposed Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR) Part
