U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION JANUARY 17 - 18, 2024, AUDIT REPORT PERTAINING TO THE REVIEW OF TOPICAL REPORT PWROG-18068-NP, REVISION 1, USE OF DIRECT FRACTURE TOUGHNESS FOR EVALUATION OF REACTOR PRESSURE VESSEL INTEGRITY EPID L 2021-TOP-0027 On January 17 - 18, 2024, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff held a regulatory audit as part of its review of Pressurized Water Reactor Owners Groups (PWROGs)

Topical Report PWROG-18068-NP, Revision 1, Use of Direct Fracture Toughness for Evaluation of Reactor Pressure Vessel Integrity. The NRC audit participants included NRC staff from the Division of Operating Reactor Licensing, Division of New and Renewed Licenses from the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation, and the Division of Engineering from the Office of Nuclear Regulatory Research.

The two-day virtual audit was performed via Microsoft Teams. The purpose and objective of the audit was to improve review process efficiency through direct interaction with the PWROG technical team. More specifically, the audit allowed the NRC staff to obtain clarification on request for additional information responses, have extended discussions about differences in technical opinion, examine supportive documentation, and identify those areas of the review that need additional focus.
