SUMMARY
OF DECEMBER 14, 2023, CLOSED MEETING WITH FRAMATOME INC. AND THE U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION FOR TOPICAL REPORT ANP-10339P, REVISION 0, ARITA - ARTEMIS/RELAP INTEGRATED TRANSIENT ANALYSIS METHODOLOGY LESSONS LEARNED (EPID L-2023-PPM-0003)
On December 14, 2023, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff held a closed meeting with representatives from Framatome Inc. (Framatome). The meeting was held in hybrid format with participants both in-person and virtual via Microsoft Teams. The purpose of the meeting was for the NRC staff and Framatome representatives to discuss the lessons learned pertaining to the ANP-10339P, Revision 0, ARITA - ARTEMIS/RELAP Integrated Transient Analysis Methodology (ARITA) topical report (TR) review. The meeting notice was issued on November 28, 2023, and is available in the Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) at Accession No. ML23332A025. The NRC staff issued the final safety evaluation for the ARITA TR on October 16, 2023 (ADAMS Accession No. ML23233A151).
During the meeting, the NRC staff and Framatome representatives discussed lessons learned from the ARITA review and recommendations for future TR reviews. The NRC staff requested written recommendations from Framatome on its lessons learned. Framatome later provided their lessons learned and recommendations which can be found in ADAMS at Accession No. ML24012A184. Regarding next steps, Framatome representatives will engage the NRC staff if additional discussions are needed.
