REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION SET 4 FOR THE GEOTECHNICAL AND HYDROLOGY REGARDING THE TRISO-X, LLC LICENSE APPLICATION FOR A NEW FUEL FABRICATION FACILITY (ENTERPRISE PROJECT IDENTIFICATION NUMBER L-2022-NEW-0005)
Dear Jennifer Wheeler:
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff has developed the fourth set of requests for additional information (RAIs) to support the geotechnical and hydrology review of the TRISO-X, LLC safety and safeguards license application. Your application for a new fuel fabrication facility located in Oak Ridge, TN was submitted via letter dated April 5, 2022 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession Number ML22101A200) and supplemented by letters dated October 13, 2022 (ML22286A144) and November 4, 2022 (ML22308A251).
Please consider providing your draft responses in advance of the formal response letter and holding a meeting to ensure mutual understanding of the responses. The RAI responses are due within 45 days of the date of this letter.
We continue to anticipate completing our review by June 2025, as previously stated in our acceptance review dated November 18, 2022 (ML22320A110). The proposed completion date could change depending on submittal of supplements to the application, the status of the Electrical/I&C review, the resolution of RAIs, findings of our technical review, or other factors. We will promptly communicate any significant changes to this schedule.
In accordance with Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Part 2 Agency Rules of Practice and Procedure, a copy of this letter and enclosures will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room (PDR) or from the Publicly Available Records component of the NRCs ADAMS. ADAMS is accessible from the NRC website at http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html. The PDR is open by appointment.
