Letter of Authorization to Amend NRC CoC 9291, Revision 11
Dear Director,
TN Americas LLC (TN) plans to make a submission of an application to amend NRC Certificate of Compliance for Model No. Liqui-Rad (LR) Transport Unit Package, USA/9291/B(U)F-96, Revision 11. The application will request NRC staff approval of a letter authorization to allow package users to continue shipping low-enriched uranium (LEU) products to Westinghouse Columbia for conversion to products used for reactor fuel fabrication, in specific packages and for a defined timeframe.
The application submission will be made within the next 30 days. Review of the application is urgently needed to allow use of the LR package for supply of materials with strategic importance to national defense. There are no other approved packages to ship this material.
