Pre-Application Meeting to Discuss LES d.b.a URENCO USA (UUSA) Plans to Restart the Centrifuge Assembly Building September 21, 2022, 1:00-2:00pm (Eastern)

Status of the Meeting This is an Observation Meeting:
This is a meeting in which attendees will have an opportunity to observe the NRC performing its regulatory function or discussing regulatory issues. Attendees will have an opportunity to ask questions of the NRC staff or make comments about the issues discussed following the business portion of the meeting; however, the NRC is not actively soliciting comments toward regulatory decisions at this meeting.
Certain portions of this meeting will be closed to the public because the staff has determined that the information is proprietary in nature, contains security-related or export-controlled information.

5 Opening Comments Agenda History Purpose Submittals and Activities Discussions and Questions
6 Public Meeting - History Principle Activities as UUSAs Centrifuge Assembly Building (CAB) ceased on October 1, 2018.
At that time Separative Work Units (SWU) costs did not support continued expansion of UUSAs SBMs.
UUSA requested and received NRC postponement approval of the decommissioning of the Centrifuge Assembly Building (CAB) to support possible future operations. (Accession ML19100A190)
UUSA resumed Principle activities in the CAB in 2022 which halted decommissioning plans. (Accession ML22245A098)
UUSA has begun making preparations for the CAB to receive NRC approval of the storage of classified material by the end of June 2023.
UUSAs goal is for the CAB to be fully operational by 2024.
7 Public Meeting - Purpose Reasons for Reactivating the Centrifuge Assembly Building (CAB)
Refurbishment of current Assays and Increase Current Enrichment Capacity.
- UUSA is working with customers to partner in longer term Nuclear Fuel supply security.
URENCO is expanding its enrichment capacity by adding centrifuge technology to meet greater customer demands.
- Construction and population of SBM 1007.
- License and Construction of HALEU Facility.
