SUMMARY
OF THE AUGUST 4, 2022, PUBLIC MEETING TO OBTAIN PUBLIC COMMENTS ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF RISK-INFORMED LICENSE RENEWAL On August 4, 2022, a comment-gathering public meeting was held between the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff, Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS), the Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI), and the South Texas Project Electric Generating Station (STP) concerning development of risk-informed license renewal. Participants included personnel from the NRC, UCS, NEI, STP, and members of the public.
The public meeting notice can be found in the Agencywide Documents Access and Management Systems (ADAMS) Accession No. ML22216A024. This meeting notice was also posted on the NRC public website.

L. Gibson Summary:
The purpose of the meeting was to gather feedback and comments from industry and members of the public on ways to risk-inform license renewal. Presentations were provided by NRC (ML22214A096), NEI (ML22216A115), and STP (ML22214A097). A transcript (ML22242A001) of the meeting was created and UCSs remarks can be found within.
Discussions were had with regards to the applicability of PRA for risk-informing aging management programs (AMPs), environmental qualification (EQ), and time-limiting aging analyses (TLAAs). Stakeholders are looking for more guidance on 10 CFR 50.59 implementation from NRC staff with regards to risk-informing. Staff will be taking the comments and feedback provided by industry and members of the public and will continue having internal discussions on risk-informing license renewal.
