REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION - APPLICATION FOR U-METAL LICENSE AMENDMENT - ENTERPRISE PROJECT IDENTIFICATION NUMBER L-2021-LLA-0213
Dear Timothy Knowles:
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff received the application from Nuclear Fuel Services, Inc. (NFS), transmitted by letter 21-G-21-0092 dated November 18, 2021 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System [ADAMS] Accession No. ML21327A099), as supplemented by two letters dated February 24, 2022 (ML22066B006 and ML22069A315), for the license amendment request related to the uranium purification and conversion (U-metal) services proposed at the facility. The application was assigned Enterprise Project Identification Number (EPID) L-2021-LLA-0213. Our review of your application has identified that additional information is needed before final action can be taken. The enclosed request for additional information describes the information needed to continue our review.
The additional information, specified in the enclosure, should be provided within 60 days from the date of this letter. Pending your response, we anticipate completing our review by July 1, 2023. This date could change depending on the findings of our technical review, urgent assignments, or other factors. We will promptly communicate any significant changes to this schedule.
The enclosure contains security-related information. Accordingly, it is marked as Official Use Only and is withheld from public disclosure. When separated from the sensitive enclosure, this letter is decontrolled and publicly available, in accordance with Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Section 2.390, Public inspections, exemptions, requests for withholding, of the NRCs Agency Rules of Practice and Procedure.
Documents transmitted by this letter contain Security-Related Information. When separated from the Enclosure, this letter is decontrolled.
