DAVIS-BESSE NUCLEAR POWER STATION, UNIT NO. 1 ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF WITHDRAWAL OF PROPOSED ALTERNATIVE TO EXTEND THE STEAM GENERATOR WELD INSPECTION INTERVALS (EPID L-2021-LLR-0067)

Dear Mr. Brown:

By application dated September 13, 2021 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML21256A119), as supplemented by letter dated January 27, 2022 (ML22027A770), Energy Harbor Nuclear Corp. (the licensee) submitted a request for a proposed alternative to certain requirements of Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR) Section 50.55a, Codes and standards, for Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station, Unit No. 1 (Davis-Besse). Specifically, the proposed alternative would increase the examination interval for the Davis-Besse steam generator welds and nozzle inner radii from 10 years to 30 years.

By letter dated June 22, 2022 (ML22173A152), the licensee requested to withdraw its September 13, 2021, application. The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff acknowledges the licensees request to withdraw the application. The NRC staff activities associated with the review have ceased and the associated EPID L-2021-LLR-0067 has been closed. If the licensee decides to resubmit the request for the proposed alternative, the new application should also provide the information that the NRC staff requested by email dated April 28, 2022 (ML22118A686).
