Hi Catelyn, Im going to provide a status of AOBNM to my team leader next week. Do you have any updates?

At the end of the specialty board evaluation, we sent each of the specialty boards a close out letter. Since we were waiting to hear from you on whether AOBNM would like to terminate their NRC-recognition while they are inactive, we did not issue one to your board.

[External_Sender] Update for AOBNM Hi Daniel, I hope this finds you well.

I received a notice that Jenny had tried to contact me last week, but I was out of the office.

Currently, the status termination is in the hands of the American Osteopathic Associations legal and no longer in mine. Im not sure where they are on this, but they would be the ones to reach out to the NRC with the letter to terminate the agreement. If, for any reason, this is holding up things on your end, please do what you need to move forward.

Thank you, Catelyn Schwartz Catelyn Schwartz Certification Director AOBNM PHONE CALL DOCUMENTATION. On June 30, 2022, Daniel called the AOBNM phone number. Daniel left a voicemail inquiring about the status of the AOBNM discussions on termination.

PHONE CALL DOCUMENTATION. On June 24, 2022, Jenny called the AOBNM phone number. Jenny spoke to Mary Tallman (AOBR). She picked up the phone line since Catelyn is on vacation this week. Mary doesn't know the status of AOBNM discussions. Catelyn will be back on Monday. The message was to call or email Daniel when Catelyn returns to the office.

We are trying to get a status of their work for management briefings.

RE: RE: AOBNM Termination Information Good afternoon Dan, The termination date (March 5, 2019 is the date we are currently using) is only referring to the date that new certifications had stopped being given. It is an NRC-recognition termination date, any candidate that was issued the original certification within the effective dates of NRC certification (currently for AOBNM this is from May 18, 2006 to March 5, 2019) will not be impacted. I hope this answers your question, but do not hesitate to email or call me with any other questions.

[External_Sender] RE: AOBNM Termination Information Good afternoon Daniel and Jenny, I am working with Catelyn on this process before we send it over to our legal department for approval. I see below that termination of the boards NRC recognition will not affect any certified physicians that received their certification prior to the termination date. Our certifications dont have a termination date, but we do require them to maintain certification with CME and submit them for recertification every three years. Will this impact any of our diplomates that go have a new recertification date even though there isnt a termination date on their certificate?

Thank you!

that termination of the boards certification status would not affect any continuing education and recertification processes by the board. He also requested an update to the request for a certificate with the Nuclear Medicine label for use on the NRC website.

AOBNM Certificate questions

[***This email was sent from someone outside of the AOA. Always use caution when opening attachments or clicking links.***]

Good Afternoon, I had a couple of questions concerning the certificates you submitted to us on April 29. First, in the document titled AOBNM original there are 2 certificates. Why are there two pages and which one would you like us to put into our record? Also, this certificate reads Specialty, but the board needs to write Nuclear Medicine on the certificate. I would also like to confirm that the effective dates for this certificate is May 12, 2017 to September 19, 2018. Ive attached the original submitted documents as reference.

Thanks again for your time

[External_Sender] RE: AOBNM certification exam information Hi Daniel, Thank you for your inquiry about the American Osteopathic Board of Nuclear Medicine (AOBNM) and the topics covered in the examination.

With respect to current examinations, please note that the AOBNM is now considered in dormant status, which means that the AOBNM is no longer offering new certifications.

With respect to examinations offered when AOBNM was in active status, the exam was developed by and licensed from the American Board of Nuclear Medicine (ABNM). AOBNMs certification candidates took the same exam as ABNMs candidates, but eligibility for certification and issuance of certification were through the ABONM. Good morning Catelyn, My name is Daniel Dimarco and I am working with Jenny on the AOBNM review. I had one question regarding the exam taken to become certified. Do you have any information about the topics covered by the test? I have been reviewing the public website but there has not been any information specific enough for my review. If you have possibly a syllabus or a list of topics that the exam covers that would be a great help in my review. Thanks for your help!

My sincerest apologies for the tardiness of the response to the Nuclear Regulatory Commissions request. Weve had changes in staff and this got a bit lost in the shuffle.

I have attached the requested response as well as two copies of the certificate samples for the American Osteopathic Board of Nuclear Medicine. The first copy is our older certificate with Board signatures and the second copy is our most recent certificate with signatures from the Chair and Vice Chair of the Bureau of Osteopathic Specialists. Their signatures are now on our certificates as the AOBNM is a dormant Board and is no longer certifying new individuals nor do we have any active Board members.

Please let me know if there are any questions and again please accept my apologies for the delayed response.

Dear Karin,

On March 15, 2022, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) shared a letter with your organization. The NRC was writing to request confirmation that the American Osteopathic Board of Nuclear Medicine (AOBNM) continues to satisfy the NRC recognition criteria for specialty board certification processes. The NRC is reaching out to all its recognized specialty boards per the NMSS Procedure 70-3, Procedures for Recognizing, Monitoring, and Terminating the Certification Process of Specialty Boards, Section 3.1, Monitoring Continued Satisfaction of Recognition Requirements.

Can you confirm whether you received either the e-mailed version of the letter or the letter sent in the mail? Does your organization plan on responding? Please note that the 30-day response window has passed.

Thank you for your attention on this.
