1.

IC Setup

a.

To establish initial conditions for JPM247, perform the following actions:

1)

Reset the simulator to any at power IC.

2)

Place the Reactor Mode Switch in Shutdown and stabilize RPV level below Level 3 but above Level 2 with the Motor Driven Reactor Feed Pump. You may have to secure RD Pumps to get level down.

3)

Save to a different IC if JPM is being used more than once. IC-239 (PW 74123) is saved for the ILT 20-1 NRC Exam.

NOTE:

It is okay to use a similar IC to the IC listed above, provided the IC actually used is verified to be compatible with this and other JPMs that are scheduled to be run concurrently.

2.

JPM Administration

a.

Reset to the IC saved after performing step 1 above. IC-239 (PW 74123) is saved for the ILT 20-1 NRC Exam.

b.

Open and execute Simulator Lesson Plan ILT 20-1 NRC Exam JPMs.

c.

Release JPM247 which will perform the following actions to override the RSP RCIC Turb Flow Controller in Manual with a 0% output.

1)

A17_A01_A02_4 = Manual

2)

A17_A01_A02_5 = Press

3)

A17_A01_A02_2 = 0

4)

Deletes the above actions when the RSP RCIC Turb Flow Controller is placed in Manual.

d.

Verify commands in 2.c are active.

e.

Turn off annunciators breakers.

f.

Transfer a copy of Remote Shutdown procedures from the MCR to the Remote Shutdown Panel Room. Ensure the procedures are returned to the Simulator at the completion of the JPM set.

g.

Verify RCIC is not initiated.

h.

Verify the RCIC controller at the RSP is in Auto set at 620 gpm.

i.

Verify the RCIC suction is aligned to the RCIC Storage Tank.

INITIATING CUE The CRS directs you to startup the RCIC system from the Remote Shutdown Panel and inject to the Reactor Vessel to restore and control RPV water level from Level 3 to Level 8 per CPS 4003.01 Remote Shutdown (RS) section 4.1.2, CPS 4003.01C002 RSP - RCIC Operation, and CPS 4003.01C003, RSP - Alarm Light Responses. RCIC is required for safe plant shutdown.

Inform the CRS when the task is complete.

Fill in the JPM Start Time when the student acknowledges the Initiating Cue.

Information For Evaluators Use:

UNSAT requires written comments on respective step.

  • Denotes critical steps.

Number any comments in the Comment Number column on the following pages. Then annotate that comment in the Comments section. The comment section should be used to document: the reason that a step is marked as unsatisfactory, marginal performance relating to management expectations, or problems the examinee had while performing the JPM.

Comments relating to procedural or equipment issues should be entered and tracked using the sites appropriate tracking system.

Some operations that are performed from outside of the control room may require multiple steps. These items may be listed as individual steps in this JPM. It is acceptable for the candidate to direct the local operator to perform groups of procedure steps instead of calling for each individual item to be performed.

The timeclock starts when the candidate acknowledges the initiating cue.

The Control Building IA ring header was automatically isolated due to a leak on the Radwaste Building ring header. The leak has been subsequently repaired.

INITIATING CUE Restore the Control Building IA ring header to service in accordance with CPS 3214.01, PLANT AIR (IA & SA), section 8.2.1.5, by supplying air from the Aux/Fuel Building IA Ring Header.

Inform the MCR when the task is complete.

NOTE: All pre-job briefings are complete.

Ensure the examinee understands the following ground rules:

  • No equipment or controls will be manipulated during this evaluation, only SIMULATED actions will occur.
  • Do NOT shine any type light into a panel.

The timeclock starts when the candidate acknowledges the initiating cue.

The examinee will place an IA Ring Header Automatic Isolation Valve into Service by opening the auto isolation valve bypasses and verifying the auto isolation valve opens, then closing the auto isolation valve bypasses.

STEP ELEMENT STANDARD SAT UNSAT Comment Number CUE Provide the examinee with the Cue Sheet and a copy of CPS 3214.01 Plant Air (IA & SA).

Once 1IA024 has been throttled open (does not need to be fully open), cue the examinee that Pressure Indicator 1PI-IA055 shows an increasing pressure (1PI-IA055 is on left hand side if facing the Aux Bldg).

  • 01 8.2.1.5.1 Opens one or both of the auto isolation valve bypasses as necessary to slowly repressurize the ring header.

Examinee locates and simulates operating 1IA024, Auto Isolation Bypass (slowly IAW Caution prior to 8.2.1.5).

Examinee throttles 1IA024 by slowly turning handwheel in the CCW direction.

CUE After several seconds - 1PI-IA055 reads nearly the same pressure as indicated on 1PI-IA054.

If requested, flow noise has died off to near nothing.

If requested, Low Pressure Control Building IA Ring Header annunciator has cleared.

02 8.2.1.5.2 Waits until the isolated ring header pressure is 70 psig or above and equalized across the auto isolation valves.

Examinee locates pressure gages and verifies pressure has equalized.
