Subchannel TR Accept Review Form 898.pdf Attached please find the completed NRC Form 898 for the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff Licensing Topical Report (LTR) Completeness Determination for NuScale Power, LLC Submittal of TR-108601, Revision 0, "Statistical Subchannel Analysis Methodology." The LTR was submitted by letter dated December 30, 2021 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System [ADAMS] Accession No. ML21364A132 -
package) and due to holiday schedule was provided to the staff on January 4, 2022.
Additional supplemental data tables were sent via compact disk and letter dated February 10, 2022 (ADAMS Accession No. ML22041A448).
On February 24, 2022, NRC staff requested supplemental information (ADAMS Accession No. ML22090A151) be submitted in order to complete the acceptance review. On April 25, 2022, NuScale submitted a response to this request with an update to: Statistical Subchannel Analysis Methodology, Supplement 1 to TR-0915-17564-P-A, Revision 2, TR-108601, Revision 1 (ADAMS Accession No. ML22115A221).
A preliminary review schedule was discussed with your staff, Thomas Griffith, on May 4, 2022, and is based on the NRC staffs cursory review for sufficiency and completeness.
The NRC staff plans to issue a request for additional information (RAI) by September 13, 2022. NRC staff expects to provide the safety evaluation with no open items to NuScale for proprietary material review by January 23, 2023. The schedule is based on the assumption that the applicant will submit an acceptable response within 30 days of receiving the staff's RAI and no additional rounds of RAIs are needed. NOTE: If during the accepted and established review, NuScale updates and/or significantly revises TR-108601 with additional technical information, NRC staff will need to reevaluate agreed-on schedule milestones and resources.
The NRC staff estimates that the review will require approximately 825 staff hours including project management time. The level of effort could change once the NRC staff delves into matters of technical and/or policy merit during the detailed safety review of the LTRs supplement.
