ACCEPTANCE OF PACIFIC GAS & ELECTRIC COMPANY REQUEST FOR LICENSE AMENDMENT 21-02 (DOCKET NUMBER: 72-27, EPID NUMBER L-2021-LLA-0228)
Dear Maureen Zawalick:
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff has received your submittal dated December 14, 2021 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System {ADAMS}
Number ML21348A389), requesting revisions to the Humboldt Bay Independent Spent Fuel Storage Installation Special Nuclear Materials License Number SNM-2514 and Technical Specifications.
We have completed our acceptance review of your submittal and have identified no administrative omissions or deficiencies that would prevent us from proceeding with a detailed review. Your submittal has been assigned Cost Activity Code (CAC)/Enterprise Project Identification Number (EPID) 001028/07200027/ L-2021-LLA-0228. Please reference this number and Docket Number 72-27 in any future correspondence associated with this request.
Please note the NRC staffs technical review of your submittal may identify issues that could require that you provide additional information. Based on our preliminary evaluation and projection of current review schedules, we anticipate completing our formal review by September 2022. This schedule includes the issuance, if needed, of a request for additional information (RAI) by April 2022 and receiving your response to the RAI 30 days after its issuance. Please note these dates could change depending on the findings of our technical review, urgent assignments, or other factors, such as whether your responses to the RAI are not adequate. Within 30 days after completion of the NRC staff review of your application/submittal, a notice will be published in the Federal Register to inform the NRC staffs decision regarding your submittal. The NRC staff estimates that completing the review of your submittal will require approximately 260 staff hours which corresponds to about $74,880. We will promptly communicate significant schedule and/or cost changes, if any.
