No: 21-038 September 22, 2021 CONTACT: David McIntyre, 301-415-8200 NRC to Hold Public Meeting to Receive Comments on Duane Arnold Nuclear Plant Decommissioning Activities Report The Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff will conduct a public meeting on Sept. 28 at 6 p.m. Central time in Palo, Iowa, to discuss and receive comments related to a decommissioning roadmap report for the Duane Arnold Energy Center.

The meeting will be held at the Palo Community Center Gym, at 2800 Hollenbeck Road.

COVID-19 safety protocols will be in effect at the venue.

During the meeting, NRC staff will present information on regulatory reviews and oversight of the plant during decommissioning.

The NRC will also host a virtual meeting during the week of Oct. 4, for those who are unable to attend the Palo meeting in person. Further details for the virtual meeting will be provided on the NRCs public meeting webpage.

Public comments on the report will be accepted through Dec. 20. A Federal Register notice with information on how to submit comments in writing was published Sept. 9.

NextEra Energy Duane Arnold, LLC, submitted its Post-Shutdown Decommissioning Activities Report for Duane Arnold on April 2, 2020. A copy of the report is available in the NRCs electronic documents website, ADAMS, using the accession number ML20094F603.

Duane Arnold permanently ceased operations on Aug. 10, 2020.
