SUMMARY
- VOGTLE ELECTRIC GENERATING PLANT, UNITS 1, 2, 3, & 4 DOCKET NO. 50-424, 50-425,52-025, 52-026, MEETING NUMBER ML21113A269 On April 28, 2021, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) conducted a virtual meeting concerning Vogtle Electric Generating Plant Units 1, 2, 3, and 4. The purpose of the meeting was to provide opportunities for the public to discuss the annual assessment for the period of January 1, 2020 -
December 31, 2020, and to discuss the Vogtle Readiness Groups (VRG) activities to support Vogtle Units 3 and 4 construction.
In response to the COVID-19 coronavirus and updated Federal Government guidance on travel and social distancing the meeting was held remotely through the Microsoft Teams application. The following documents related to the meeting are available in ADAMS: Meeting Notice Accession No. ML20210435, Vogtle Electric Generating Plant Units 1 and 2: Accession No. ML21062A051, and Units 3 and 4: Accession No. ML21061A216.
The meeting was conducted from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM eastern time. There were 88 attendees.
In summary, the attendees consisted of representatives from the NRC, Southern Nuclear Company, and members of the public. Due to the nature of the meeting, no official list of attendees is included.
NRC staff were available for questions for half an hour. Questions related to Vogtle Units 3 and 4 involving construction related concerns were consistent with the normal meetings conducted near the station. Three members of the public requested a link for the slide presentation and were provided with the link prior to the meeting concluding. Additionally, the meeting was listed in the Public Meeting Feedback System (PMFS) under Meeting Code (20200533) and upon submittal of this memo there were no public responses to the meeting.
Following the annual assessment portion of the meeting, the staff held a virtual meeting to discuss the VRGs activities as Southern Nuclear Company approaches the end of construction for Unit 3. The staffs presentation can be found at ADAMS Accession No. ML21113A227.
The NRC staff provided details on the status of licensing actions, inspections activities, and inspection, tests, analyses, and acceptance criteria closure reviews associated with the construction of Vogtle Units 3 and 4. The NRC staff also provided an overview of the necessary actions to make a finding under 10 CFR 52.103(g) that the licensee has met all the acceptance criteria in their Combined License. Finally, the staff provided information on the transition of NRC oversight following the potential 10 CFR 52.103(g) finding.

At the conclusion of the discussion, there was an opportunity for the public to provide comments and ask questions. The NRC staff answered questions received from members of the public.
