APPLICATION FOR NEW QUALITY ASSURANCE PROGRAM -
ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF WITHDRAWAL
Dear Mr. Bisson:
By letter dated November 23, 2016 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML16337A073) you submitted an application to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) for approval of a new quality assurance program (QAP) under Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR) Part 71.
By letter dated February 18, 2021 (ADAMS Accession No. ML21063A152), Johns Hopkins University/Applied Physics Laboratory (JHU/APL) has requested to withdraw the application from NRC review. Based on the information provided in this letter and previous conversations with NRC personnel, it was determined that the activities JHU/APL is engaging in with regards to transportation of Special Nuclear Material (SNM) are adequately encompassed under JHU/APLs Maryland Agreement State License (MD-27-014-02), and that your initial request was submitted due to an error in the Code of Maryland Regulations (COMAR). The NRC acknowledges your request to withdraw the application. As a result, NRC staff activities on the review have ceased.
If you determine future activities require an NRC-approved QAP, please submit the request in writing in accordance with the requirements in 10 CFR 71.101.
