UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AT AUSTIN - CLOSURE OF CONFIRMATORY ACTION LETTER NO. NRR-03-003 ON THE SITE-SPECIFIC COMPENSATORY MEASURES IMPLEMENTATION PLAN
Dear Dr. Charlton:
The purpose of this letter is to inform you that the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has closed confirmatory action letter (CAL) No. NRR-03-003. The NRC issued CAL No. NRR 03-003 on October 22, 2003 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML032320212). This CAL formalized commitments to implement site-specific compensatory measures related to security and safeguards.
By letter dated December 2, 2020 (ADAMS Accession No. ML20345A136 - cover letter only),
the NRC received a revised physical security plan (PSP), dated December 2, 2020, for the University of Texas at Austin (UTA) TRIGA Mark II Nuclear Reactor, under Facility Operating License No. R-129. In response to this letter, the NRC staff reviewed the UTA PSP and found it to be in compliance with the applicable regulations contained in Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR) Part 73, Physical Protection of Plants and Materials (ADAMS Accession No. ML21015A342). In addition, the NRC staff found that the site-specific compensatory measures committed to in CAL No. NRR-03-003 were incorporated into the UTA PSP.
Therefore, the NRC considers CAL No. NRR-03-003 closed.
Under 10 CFR 2.390, Public inspections, exemptions, requests for withholding, the NRC will make a copy of this letter available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room located at the NRC Headquarters in Rockville, MD. The public can also access this letter in the NRCs document system, ADAMS, on the NRCs Web site at https://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html.
