PRELIMINARY NOTIFICATION 1
June 16, 1978 PRELIMINARY NOTIFICATION OF SAFEGUARDS EVENT PNs-78-26 This preliminary notification constitutes EARLY notice of events of POSSIBLE national security or public interest significance.
The information presented is as initially received without verification or evaluation and is basically all that is known by lE staff as of this date.

Subject:
BOMB THREAT At approximately 2:15 p.m., June 14, 1978, the Bechtel switchboard operator at San Onofre Units 2 and 3 received a telephone call from an unidentified female who stated, "You have a bomb on your job that will go off at 3:00 p.m."
When the operator requested that the caller hold
.for a minute, the caller replied, " Hell no," and then hung up.
No search or evacuation was conducted.
Both units are under construction, and there is no SNM at either site.
No press release is planned by the licensee.
The IAT has been notified.
NRC Region V (San Francisco) received notification of the bomb threat

from the licensee at 2:50 p.m. on June 15, 1978.
