Virgil C. Summer Nuclear Station Docket No. 50/395 Operating License No. NPF-12 Response to NRC Bulletin 89-02 Gentlemen:
As requested by NRC Bulletin 89-02, South Carolina Electric & Gas Company has determined that it does not have any Anchor Darling Model S350W swing check valves with type 410 stainless steel bolting material. In addition, there are no valves of similar design with preloaded type 410 stainless steel bolting material at the Virgil C. Summer Nuclear Station.
South Carolina Electric & Gas Company evaluated 259 safety related check valves at Virgil C. Summer Nuclear Station. The evaluation included a review of; valve drawings, technical manuals, and bills of material. As a result, it was determined that NRC Bulletin 89-02 does not apply to Virgil C. Summer Nuclear Station.
