Subject: NRC Region I Inspection No. 50-443/89-06

This refers to the routine safety inspection conducted by Messrs. N. Dudley and

M. Markley of this office from May 27 - June 30, 1989 at the Seabrook Station,

.

Unit No. 1, Seabrook, New Hampshire.

The inspection cor.sisted of a selective

examination of procedures and representative records, interviews with personnel

and observations by the inspectors. The results of the inspection are described

in the NRC Region I Inspection Report enclosed with this letter and were dis-

cussed with Mr. T. Feigenbaum and others of your staff after the conclusion of

the inspection.

Additionally, this refers so your letter, dated June 26, 1989, which responds

to a Notice of Violation, issued in con,iunction with NRC Region I Inspection

Report No. 50-443/89-03, and transmitted with our letter dated May 25, 1989.

Thank you for _ informing us of the corrective and preventive actions documented

in your letter which address the identified failures to control valve position

in accordance with the requirements of your Facility Operating License. These

corrective _ actions will ce examined during future inspections of your licensed

program.

In accordance with 10 CFR Part 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules ;>f Practice", a copy

of this letter and the enclosures will be placed in the NRC Public Document

Room.
