SEALED SOURCE Amended in Entirety 80-66 Manufacturer and Distributor Sealed Source Model Designation Minnesota Mining and 3E40 Manufacturing Company 3M Center St. Paul, Minnesota 55101 Isotope Maximum Activity Kr-85 1500 Millicuries Conditions of Normal Use The Model 3E40 is designed for industrial beta gauging applications for temperature range of 32-158'F (0 to 70'C) and atmospheric pressure.
Sealed Source Description The source consists of a titanium bar with a 0.187" slot milled 0.200" deep. The slot is covered with a 0.002" thick titanium window sealed by "GAPASIL 9" brazing. The source is filled through a 1/16" copper tube silver brazed after filling. The active dimensions of the source are l 1.125" by 0.187". The overall dimensions are 3.370" long, 0.38" wide
! and 0.300" deep. Each flange has a #24 (0.152") hole, the holes are 3.00" apart center-to-center.
Prototype Testing
- This sealed source is designed to comply with requirements of American l National Standards Institute ANSI N5.10-1968 classification 32231.

Handling, Storage, Use, Transfer, and Disposal: To be determined by licensing authority.
The Model 3E40 shall not be. subjected to environmental or other conditions of use which exceed ANSI N5.10-1968 Classification 32231.
