The NRC staff issued Generic Letter (GL) 97-04, " Assurance of Sufficient Net Positive Suction
. Head for Emergency Core Cooling and Containment Heat Removal Pumps," on October 7, J
1997. The GL requested that licensees provide information necessary to confirm the adequacy of the net positive suction head available for emergency com cooling and containment heat removal pumps. By letter dated January 5,1998, as sur ented on February 11,1998, Northeast Nuclear Energy Company'(NNECO) submittt day response to GL 97-04. UNIT 2 DOCKET NO. 50-336 The fotbwing information is needed for the staff to complete its review of NNECO's responses to GL 97-04, " Assurance of Sufficient Net Positive Suction Head for Emergency Core Cooling and Containment Heat Removal Pumps," dated October 7,1997.

What !s the maximum sump temperature assumed in the high pressure safety injection (HPSI) and the low pressure safety injection net positive suction head (NPSH) analyses?
2.
What is the NPSH required, and NPSH available for HPSl? Provide the actual numbers.
3.
In the GL response dated January 5,1998, the NPSH required and NPSH available for the containment spray pumps was provided based on subcooled sump water temperature.
What is the subcooled sump temperature that was used?
4.
In a letter dated February 11,1998, the NPSH required and NPSH available for the containment spray pumps was provided based on saturated conditions of 212 degrees.
Wnich NPSH analysis for containment spray is considered to be the Millstone 2 licensing basis?
