Dear Mr. Kingsley:
SUBJECT:
CLOSE0VTOFREACTORCOOLANTPUMPTRIP(MPAG-01)'(TAC 49694/51528)-
SEQUOYAH NUCLEAR PLANT, UNITS 1 AND 2 For the reactor coolant pump (RCP) trip issue defined in TMI Action Plan Item II.K.3.5 and Multiplant Action (MPA) G-01, the staff generically approved the Babcock and Wilcox Owners Group (BWOG), Combustion Engineering Owners Group (CEOG), and Westinghouse Owners Group (WOG) methodologies in the.
Generic Letters 86-05, 86-06, and 85-12, respectively, with the condition that plant-specific information needs to be addressed. Our review of the plant-specific information has progressed to the point where we can conclude' that the BWOG, CEOG,'and WOG methodologies have significantly improved reactor safety, and there are no major' safety-significant concerns for the plant-specific information.. By your letter dated December 15, 1987, you have adopted and implemented.the WOG methodology. Therefore, we conclude that the RCP trip issue in TMI Action Plan Item II.K.3.5 is satisfactorily resolved and MPA G-01 is closed out for the Sequoyah Nuclear Plant, Units 1 and 2.
Sincerely n
nN.
