This letter transmits the. routine-resident safety inspection-by Messrs.
~
T. Kenny, L. Scholl and R. Fuhrmeister from March 29 - Apr1123,1989 at the
Limerick Generating Station, Limerick, Pennsylvania.
The inspection consisted-
of document reviews, interviews, and observation of activities. The results
have been discussed with Messrs. Martin McCormick, .Jr. and W. T. Ullrich and

other members of your staff.
Based on our inspection, an apparent violation of failure to follow procedures
occurred during the. performance <of maintenance on the main steam safety relief
valves. 'This apparent violation has been categorized by severity level
-according to 10 CFR'Part 2, Appendix C (Enforcement Policy).
You are required
to' respond to this violation and in preparing your response you should follow
the instructions in Appendix A.
In accordance with 10 CFR.2.790(a), a copy of this letter and the enclosures
'
will be placed in the Public Document Room. The response directed by this
letter and the accompanying notice are not subject to the. clearance procedures
of the Office of Management and Budget as required by the Paperwork Reduction
Act of 1980, PL 96-511.
