This refers to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) inspection conducted by

William H. Ruland on May 16 - June 21,1989. The inspection included a review
of activities authorized for your Brunswick facility. At the conclusion of the

inspection, the findings were discussed with those members of your staff

identified in the enclosed inspection report.

Areas examined during the inspection are identified in the report.
Within
{
these areas, the inspection consisted of selective examinations of procedures
i
and representative records, interviews with personnel, and observation of
activitics in progress.
Within the scope of the inspection, no violations or deviations were identified.
With respect to the Unit 2 loss of off-site power event of June 17, 1989, we
understand that your staff, in conjunction with the Institute of Nuclear Power
Operations, are evaluating this event and have offered to present your findings

to the NRC.
We are very much interested in this natter and look forward tc

meeting with you in the near future.

Your attention is invited to an unresolved item identified in tM inspection
report. This matter will be pursued during future inspections.
In accordance with Section 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," Part 2,
