Technical Specification Amendment-L Residual Heat Removal ~ Flow Requirements
'This'1etter,contains information that supersedes the information:for the proposed D,
-amendment to the Technical _ Specifications I submitted on April'6, 1989. The
, attached request involves changing the requirements for Residual Heat Removal.
F
'(ND) system flow-when in Mode 6;(Refueling). These changes are in response to k
Generic. Letter 88-17, Loss of Decay Heat Removal. The changes are also being-proposed to aid Operations personnel.-- The direction given to Operations:
personnel because of' Generic' Letter 88-17 was in conflict with the current:
Technica1' Specifications. < This' was determined to be 'a contributory cause 'to LER '
413/88-27, dated January 30, 1989. The changes would aid in preventing loss of
'the ND. system. This proposed change is consistent with the Technical
' Specifications:for' Residual Heat Removal' Systems in Mode 6 proposed in WCAP-12159. This WCAP was. submitted by the Westinghouse Owners Group on March 30, 1989.
.The changes contained in this letter are intended to make the Catawba Technical'
' Specifications for Residual Heat Removal resemble more closely the Calloway.
- Technical Specifications. An amendment to the Calloway Technical Specifications for Residual Heat Removal was issued March 27, 1989. '
Pursuant to 10 CFR 50.91 (b) (1) the appropriate South Carolina Official is being
- provided a copy of this amendment request.
